In 1862 Elizabeth White was at Morthen Manor House and James White, a Land valuer and Surveyor, was living at Moorgate.

Edith Merryweather, niece age 3 born Whiston
Canon James W. Merryweather¹ was born in the West Indies, where his father was a planter, his mother brought him to England, whether or not before his fathers death is not known. He was educated privately at Whiston School in Yorkshire when of age he joined his Uncle in his business. Afterwards he took a M.A. Degree at Trinity College, Dublin. He Joined the teaching staff of Monckton School in Bath, and after a short time ther took Holy Orders. In 1898 he was vicar at St Bartholomew, Carbrook Sheffield and was appointed to the vicarage of St Philip Sheffield.
In 1881, Andrew MERRYWEATHER², born 1848 in Granada, West Indies, was a Land Valuer & Farmer Of 115 Acres. He employed two men and one boy to help with the farm.
Also living with the family were two servants, Charlotte Turner, age 18 employed as a General Servant Domestic; and Ann Elizabeth Rotherforth, age 14 employed as a Nurse Domestic.
Andrew² was married to Mary Styring , born 1853 in Rotherham. Children:

It is recorded that on 5th July, 1912, Mr A. Merryweather of Whiston, was awarded a prize at the Royal Show at Doncaster for the best managed farm (chiefly arable of not less than 50 acres or more than 200 acres) in Yorkshire.

Henry Merryweather, druggist, was trading in Sheffield in 1852. His residence was Whiston. in 1855 he obtained premises in Westgate, Rotherham, along with James Savery and William Davison, both Schoolmasters of Whiston.
Merryweather of Doncaster, Estate Agent, is the successor to Merryweather, Corbett and Dawson, which was itself the successor to J Dawson and Sons, established by John Dawson at St George Gate, Doncaster in 1880s.
