George Ellis, a Policemen of Sheffield, the son of Richard Ellis, married on 28th March 1866 at Whiston, Sarah Machin age 26 a spinster.
Sarah was daughter of John & Mary Machin (Mention) of Whiston, Labourer. She was baptised 14 June 1840. (Source Whiston Parish Records)

Geo. Ellis Head of family aged 43, born 1838 at Attercliffe, Yorkshire, a Plasterer, living in Whiston with his wife Sarah (nee Machin) aged 41 born 1840 at Whiston.

In 1891 the family were living on The Green.
