Whiston Methodist Church
The Methodist Church is situated on High Street in the heart of the village

- The first record of Wesleyans meeting in Whiston was in the diary of Rev. Charles Boone in 1771, the early meetings were held in Stanley Cottage on Hollowgate.
- 1822 - The first chapel was built on High Street by the Wesleyans. It was opened on 25th December by the Rev. W. Hill, the Ray. T. Harris, and Mr. S. Clarke.
- 1857 - First Recorded Preacher for the 'Anniversary Sermons' on April 12th was Rev. Thomas Pearson(d.1873), Vicar of Market Lavington and member of the Gosling Society.
- 1865 - The foundation stone was laid by a Thomas Hazlehurst of Runcorn in April, 1865.
- 1866 - The present chapel was built in 1866.
- 1866 - Rev. George Osborn (1808-91) ex president of the Wesleyan Conference, opened the chapel on the 3rd April 1866.
- 1874 - The clock was fitted in 1874
- 1883 - The organ was purchased.
- 1919 - To commemorate those who had given their lives in the Great War, the stained glass window was installed with the inscription 'HOLY HOLY HOLY I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD THIS WINDOW WAS ERECTED IN MEMORY OF THE FALLEN MEMEBRS OF THIS CHURCH IN THE GREAT WAR '. A ceremony took place on 4th December.
- 1948 - The first Youth Club was started in 1948.
- 1949 - The concrete spire replaced the original wooden one. Cost £290
- 1974 - An electric movement replaced the clockwork mechanism in the Chapel clock in 1974.
